Cambridge Industrial Design recently helped a small start-up company turn its innovative catflap idea into a market-challenging reality. The SureFlap uses RFID technology to read a cat’s electronic chip from a distance to either allow or prevent entry. We worked closely with the company to develop a striking, fresh design that reflected the advanced technology inside. We also helped create a new latch mechanism that was ‘cat-proof’, along with appropriate product graphics. The assembly was engineered for mid- to high-volume production in China, and the SureFlap launched confidently into a competitive and well established market.
